BelindaGail1Not until their youngest was a junior in high school did Belinda give her music serious consideration. Within one year, a Nashville agent presented her demo to Sony Records. Liking her sound and looks, they were ready to sign her. However, when they found out she was 37 years old they quickly dropped negotiations. Unwilling to give up, Belinda’s agent booked her at various events. After performing “Cowboy’s Sweetheart” at the West Coast National Fan Fest, she met two elderly men who ultimately changed her life; Paul Bellanger and Hank Decato. They took Belinda to the nearest phone to sing the song again, this time to the woman who wrote and recorded it in 1935, Cowgirl Hall-of-Famer, Patsy Montana. Patsy quickly adopted Belinda, saying she made it a practice to adopt all of her competition.

"There is no neutral for me.  I either journey courageously forward or go backwards.  I refuse to go backwards, so forward I go!"
